Brainstorming in a tiny notebook. This is how most of my work begins: an idea, a small notebook, and some very fast work. These are nine pages from a tiny notebook generating ideas for more Confused Flags.

It occurs to me I don’t often show much of my process. It’s strange, because the finished, refined work I show most is merely the tip of a very large iceberg. I am sure every artist would say the same; beneath each completed work lies a mountain of scraps of paper, notebooks, discarded scribbles, pens, inks, dirty brushes, broken pencils, hours of dreaming, and in this case a small pile of crude stamps I cut from erasers, plus a jigsaw puzzle app for iPad to enable class A procrastination. These rapid sketches are the beginnings my next flags which I'll begin making on Monday, to be stacked alongside other artists' work in some more Brexit Art Machines in London.

For anyone who has visited here hoping to discover where to find Brexit Art Machines, I haven’t yet got info on specific locations. They may be anarchic pop-up events and no-one knows where they will be, but if I do find out I will post here as well as on my Instagram.
