Bats in the Bath

Real Bat Skeleton Crystal Cave in Dome by EarthSeaWarrior on Etsy
Every day a lot of Outside manages to get Inside our house. We are proud hosts of a Pipistrelle colony in one of the window roof sections and every so often a bat will lose its way down the chimneys and swoops around the house.
B doesn't like it because it makes him feel as though the bat is going to get tangled up in his hair, but has managed to remove a very small baby bat from the arm of our sofa and put it safely into the garden shed with an escape route. We had found it in the morning too exhausted to move, and I was frightened to touch it in case I killed it with fright, but B came out trumps and got it snugly into a little box and placed it high up in the shed to recover in peace. Bats will eventually find their way out if you leave a window open.
Others haven't been so lucky. A bat once got in while we weren't around to open a window, and some time later I found its little body in the bath. That wouldn't be a problem (except for the poor bat) but for the fact I was showing prospective guests around and when we reached the bathroom was the moment I discovered it. I'm not sure what I noticed first - the strange little dark form in the bath, or the very funky smell! I stood in front of it and gabbled away hoping that nobody would notice before moving the would-be guests on swiftly ... Later I returned, wrapped up its tiny form in tissue and presented it to B to go with his collection of bird skeletons and other grizzly things. He was delighted with it.
When I saw the beautiful construction by EarthSeaWarrior I thought Christmas present! (Their Etsy shop is well worth a visit, by the way).
