It's a natural time to begin a new body of work: spring time, and when an exhibition of your work is running. The exhibition is going really well, and I am also moving house - but nonetheless I keep working whenever I can.
Once I have a concept for a new drawing in my head, I begin with an ideas board in the form of a digital collage into which I toss associated thoughts. Then I begin to make connections between these ideas, and the drawing is ready to start. As the drawing progresses new ideas form, and it quite often ends up a millions miles away from where it began! Pictured above are two new ideas boards for new drawings - we'll see where they go!
The bucket in the top board is from Michael Craig Martin's painting Knowing (1996). I have it here in greyscale because I want to remember the clarity and simplicity of his amazing drawing and painting style. The image is at Tate online - link to whole image here
Thanks for visiting, see you next week!
Welcome to my blog, where I share what I have been doing during the week.
I have at last copied my nom-de-plume Binky McKee blog entries from here to their own blog, having given the illustration website an overhaul. Peace and tranquillity may resume here in the somewhat quieter nature of Heather Eliza's work, while Binky has her own rather more colourful Weekly. Please visit Binky McKee if you would like to visit!
