For years Thomas Nozkowski has been turning out a body of work which is inspirational in its sheer craziness. Every work is inventive, thinks on its feet, and presents a unique take on the artist's response to the world.
“Grids erupt, lines twist or dangle; patterns dwindle for no apparent reason, as if they are refusing to follow rules. If these paintings were people, their features might disappear and their limbs might change shape or sprout new digits without warning”. Time Out
I find myself going back and looking at his work time and time again. For me it is the inventiveness, his translation of and reporting back from the world I find refreshing and authentic.
Here's a link to a You Tube video of a talk by Thomas Nozkowski on You Tube:Thomas Nozkowski: Alone Together Solitude and Collaboration in Contemporary Art
The sound quality isn't great, but the content is; a lovely talk by TN on his process and source material.
THE WEEKLY: BINKY McKEE AND ME
Welcome to my blog where I share my work as an illustrator as well as occasional events from the week.
I illustrate under the pen-name of Binky McKee, McKee being my mother's maiden name. Binky was the name of every single cat my great-grandmother owned - about 40 of them during her life! It seemed natural to devote my more nurturing, colourful, story-telling work to the female side of the family, whilst practicing my art work under my paternal name.
Currently I am working on illustrating a children's book, and of course I can't resist an Instagram challenge such as Folktale Week or Inktober!
I hope you enjoy the work!
